Football rules

Like most sports, the name of the game that is American football is to score MORE than your opponent team within a given time frame. How the game is played, however, and what makes up the game are the actual essential football rules. Apart from the required number of players per team in the field (eleven players for each team), one needs a 360×160 foot field (the shorter sides being end lines and the longer sides being the sidelines), two goalposts with a crossbar at each end zone. Football rules state that the offensive team must complete ten yards worth of advancement within a given limit of four downs. If they complete this, they get another four downs that would (if the defending team doesn’t manage to stop them) give them a touchdown (worth six points). If they don’t football rules state that the defensive team be handed the possession of the ball, thus making them the offensive team.

There are, of course, many other American football rules and regulations that must be met, but all of these require appropriate definitions and contexts. For example, the touchdown is obviously not the only means of scoring in American football. That being said, this section that we are dedicating on football rules will include the definition of the vocabulary necessary to understand the intricacies of the game. This is, of course, apart from the all the actual football rules that you have to remember when playing or scoring a game. This section has nothing up yet, but please check back often for updates.
